Meter Request
The Utility Systems Section is responsible for line location of water and wastewater, as well as approval of water and wastewater service. When a new property is being built this section determines whether or not the property is close enough to tie into the City water and/or wastewater lines.

Meter Request Process:
1. Obtain the UT-UTO-01.02 (E) Meter Application Residential PDF or the UT-UTO-01-02-01 (E) Meter Application Commercial PDF from our Utility Operations Department Forms page or by clicking the link above. Please follow the instructions on how to fill out a fillable form on our Utility Operations Department Forms page.
2. E-mail, Mail, or Fax the form.
a. Send an E-mail with the form name in the subject line.

c. Fax to: (505) 891-5201
i. Please include a cover page, any additional documentation, and a note on how many pages are include in the fax.
3. Once the application has been submitted allow two (2) to three (3) weeks for the Utilities Operations Division to review.
4. Once the application is approved it is sent to the Utilities Service Division.There it is processed into the City’s database and a meter is assigned to the property.
5. You must pay any fees (Pro-Rata payment, installation fees, or new service fees) at the cashier’s cages which are located on the first floor of City Hall (3200 Civic Center Circle NE).
6. After you have paid your fees a technician will come out to the property and install the new water meter.
