Outdoor Rebates

The New Outdoor Rebates program assists citizens who are interested in conserving water by replacing old sprinkler heads to High Efficiency Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles, replacing old irrigation timers to Smart Controllers, and even xeriscaping. 


To Apply:

For High Efficiency Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles or Smart Controllers:


  1.  Fill out the Outdoor Rebate Application
  2.  Email or mail the form along with a copy of your itemized receipt to:

Rebates for High Efficiency Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles are issued as a credit on your water bill at $2.00 each. Click on the link to see a list of qualifying nozzles PDF

Rebates for replacing old irrigation timers to smart controllers will receive a credit on your water bill up to $300.00. Click on the link to see a list of Irrigation ControllersPDF. EPA WaterSense certified controllers  can be purchased in Rio Rancho:

  • The completed Application form and itemized receipt must be received within 90 calendars days from purchase date.
  • Allow 90 calendar days for your completed application to be processed and receive a credit.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed.

For Xeriscaping:

  1. Contact the Water Conservation office at (505) 896-8715 to speak with a specialist BEFORE you begin your project.

    • Grass removal to xeriscape has a rebate credit of  $1.00 per square foot with a minimum of 250 square feet of grass removed. PRE APPROVAL REQUIRED!!
