On April 15, 2021, Acting City Manager Peter Wells provided the Recommended Fiscal Year 2022 (FY 22) Budget for municipal government operations and services and the Capital Program (FY 22-27) to the Mayor and City Council. The FY 22 budget spans from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.
Per the City’s Charter, the Mayor of Rio Rancho had until April 25 to review the recommended budget and capital program and submit written comments to the city manager. View Mayor's comments.
The Recommended FY 22 budget and capital program was reviewed by the Governing Body (Mayor and City Council) at a budget hearing on April 30. View the meeting.
The Governing Body took public comment on the FY 22 budget and capital program during its regular monthly meetings on May 13 and May 27 at 6 p.m.
On May 27, the Governing Body voted on and approved a balanced budget for FY 22 and capital program. View meeting and balanced budget documents.
Pursuant to State rules, the balanced budget must be submitted to the State by June 1.
On July 22, the Governing Body will vote on a Final Budget for FY 2022, which must be submitted to the State by July 31 per requirements. The Final Budget accounts for the end of the current Fiscal Year, which occurs on June 30, 2021, and includes project closeut, project and encumbrance rollovers, and other minor adjustments.
